  • Marked the 20th anniversary of Northland’s operating program, KIDS PLUS, which has been providing community organizing, financial support, technical assistance, and networking opportunities to help northeastern Minnesota communities meet the needs of children and youth since 1991
  • Became certified to participate in two new programs through the State Small Business Credit Initiative, funded in part by the US Treasury Department, the State of Minnesota Capital Access Program, and the Small Business Loan Guarantee Program, which will assist the work of the Business Finance Program
  • Strengthened the longtime relationship with Essentia Health with Essentia’s renewal of $25,000 in annual funding to support children, youth, and older adults, as well as an additional $25,000 to the Thrive Initiative to advance infant and early childhood mental health in the region
  • Provided a quality living environment and care to 66 residents, and employment to 58 staff members, at Northland Village assisted living communities in McGregor, Buhl, and Hoyt Lakes over the course of the year
  • Graduated 52 Duluth and Superior ninth-grade students from the 2011-12 Twin Ports Youth Leadership Academy, with key sponsorship support from corporate, philanthropic, and individual donors
  • Presented 34 KIDS PLUS Institute and other training opportunities, reaching 1,960 individuals with information provided by respected experts in their fields
