Grand Marais: Fall Annual Training Day for Licensed Providers

Offered FREE to licensed child care providers from Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis counties. Light breakfast & lunch provided.

8 a.m.-10 a.m. Sudden Infant Death/Abusive Head Trauma, Event #285519: This class meets DHS Licensing training requirements for both Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and Abusive Head Trauma (AHT). Recommendations to reduce Sudden, Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID) including SIDS, suffocation, and other sleep related infant deaths; safe sleep environments; MN Child Care regulations related to safe sleep; as well as symptoms and consequences of abusive head trauma, risk factors for abusive head trauma; and strategies to use when stressed, angry or frustrated.

10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Infants and Toddlers: A Relationship-based Approach to Challenging Behaviors - Examining Behaviors EVENT ID: 289115
This 2-hour behavior guidance course will meet the licensed family child care annual training requirement. The objectives of the training are to help participants: learn about the relationship between behavior and distress communication for infants and toddlers; identify characteristics of challenging behavior demonstrated by infants and toddlers; identify the difference between acting out and withdrawing behaviors seen in infants and toddlers; and discus best practice guidance strategies.

12:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Breaking Bad...Habits; Setting Boundaries With Families Event ID: 289119 Set boundaries with families to allow for a professional environment and mutual respect. Discover what boundaries participants want in their unique environment and making a plan to implement them. Create an environment that is open and supportive with families, yet has professional boundaries.
