February 26th: Youth in Philanthropy Grantwriting Training, Northland Foundation, 4:15-6:30 p.m.

Teams of youth and adult advisors receive practical training on taking a youth-developed project from the idea stage to implementation, and learn the specifics of writing a KIDS PLUS Youth in Philanthropy grant application.

March 17th: Erin Walsh "Raising Media Wise Kids"
Northern Lights Ballroom, The Inn on Lake Superior, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

 

Learn concrete strategies for staying connected with young people in the media age and minimizing their exposure to negative influences from TV, video games, and the Internet. Erin Walsh is the daughter of Dr. David Walsh, the nationally known psychologist, bestselling author, and founder of the National Institute on Media and the Family.

 

March 31st: 2009 Regional Early Childhood Summit
Lake Superior Ballroom, DECC, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Teams of early childhood specialists, K-12 educators, administrators, school superintendents, law enforcement representatives, and others from school districts around the region join together to focus on early learning and development at the fourth annual northeastern Minnesota Summit.
