SUMMER 2009
Make hay while the sun shines is the perfect expression to describe the happenings at Northland Village Assisted Living Communities in McGregor and Buhl this summer. Both locations have been busy over recent months with activities, new residents, and improvements to the grounds.
Trees, shrubs, flowers and bird
feeders add to the homelike
surroundings at Northland Village.
McGregor is currently at capacity, with 19 residents and another scheduled to move in this month. Buhl is already nearly full, with 15 residents. Each location offers 20 individual suites.
“The RN/Managers, Todd Dickson in McGregor and Mary Archambeau in Buhl, have been doing a great job of not only managing day to day operations but also giving tours and meeting with potential residents,” said Karie Simpson, Chief Operating Officer of Northland Assisted Living.
As staff and residents have been busy with activities, meals, and greeting new neighbors, contractors have been beautifying the grounds. Landscapers have added gardens, trees, shrubs, and sod in Buhl, and some additional work was also done in McGregor. Visitors and residents, whether they are strolling on the walking path or relaxing on the patio, can enjoy the natural beauty of greenery and flowers. In McGregor, raised garden beds enable residents with a green thumb to help tend flowers and vegetables without having to crouch or kneel.
“It's been great fun this summer, with a great deal of activity going on. Most importantly, our residents are enjoying life to the fullest,” said Simpson.
Besides McGregor and Buhl, Northland Assisted Living and Foundation staff have been meeting with city leaders, architects and builders to complete plans for a third site, to be constructed in Hoyt Lakes. It is hoped that ground will be broken yet this fall or early next spring.
