Meet two new trustees and 2011-12 officers of the board

The Northland Foundation Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome two new members who have been elected to serve three-year terms, and to announce the 2011-12 officers.

Tom Rider is co-owner of Lutsen Mountains Ski and Summer Resort. Lutsen Mountains is the largest private employer in Cook County. Rider has lived in northeastern Minnesota for more than 20 years with his wife, Ann, and their two children. He is an alumnus of Boston University where he earned a Juris Doctorate and a Masters in Tax Law. Prior to moving to Minnesota he worked as an attorney in New York City and Boston. Rider’s additional board service experience includes the North House Folk School, Poplar River Management Board, Cook County Youth Soccer Association, and Birch Grove Foundation.

Trent Janezich

Trent Janezich


Trent Janezich lives in Hibbing, Minnesota with his wife, Janelle, and their two young children. Janezich is employed with the Northeast Higher Education District, serving as the Director of Arrowhead University. In this capacity, he has helped launch and implement the Iron Range Engineering Initiative at Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, and strengthened partnerships with universities to enable more students to complete their degrees on the Iron Range. He holds a B.A. in political science from the University of St. Thomas, and a Master of Education as well as Doctor of Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Janezich also serves on the Northeastern Minnesota’s Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Board of Directors.

2011-12 officers include Chair Dave Clusiau, Co-owner, Hibbing Chrysler Center; Vice Chair Jeff Corey, Executive Director, Northern Communities Land Trust; and Secretary/Treasurer: Diane Rauschenfels, Coordinator for the Educational Administration Program, University of Minnesota Duluth.

Trustee Ken Johnson of Aitkin, former Secretary/Treasurer, recently completed his nine-year term on the board. Cindy Hansen of Tofte, the outgoing Chair, will serve an additional year in the role of Immediate Past Chair.
