Thrive receives generous support from the Southern St. Louis County Family Service Collaborative
A $100,000 grant from the Family Service Collaboratives of St. Louis County will help to support local infant and early childhood mental health efforts. During the 18 month grant period, resources from the Southern St. Louis Family Service Collaborative will help increase the capacity of community-based organizations to support the healthy social and emotional development of young children and their families.
The funding will bolster the work of the Duluth-Proctor-Hermantown Thrive Initiative through a multipronged approach including advanced training, professional networking, and special project development.
“Children's social and emotional development is a growing need in our local communities, and this grant will help us address this issue at a deeper level,” stated Lynn Haglin, Vice President/KIDS PLUS Director for the Northland Foundation.
Bader Philanthropies promotes vitality of older generations through mentorship of young people
Bader Philanthropies has recently awarded funding to the Northland Foundation to encourage leadership and service learning among young people, with guidance from adult and older adult mentors.
The grant funding of $15,000 will help support the Youth In Philanthropy and the Twin Ports Youth Leadership Academy initiatives, which engage more than 60 young people each year to develop leadership and career skills; and learn the importance of volunteerism in their communities. Adult mentors play a critical role in providing skills development and guidance to the young people.
“Bader Philanthropies is a valued, longstanding partner of the Northland Foundation helping us to actively engage older adults in the lives of young people,” stated Tony Sertich, President of the Northland Foundation.
