Strategic Focus Areas
The Northland Foundation Board of Trustees has set three cross-cutting goals within the strategic plan that guide the current work of the Foundation. Each of our program areas and special initiatives fits within one or more of these focus areas.
Children & Youth
Supporting the next generations to learn, achieve, and succeed. Children and young people, and their families, are the heart of our communities. A vibrant future begins with nurturing our youngest citizens’ social and emotional health, educational success, family stability, leadership development, and civic engagement with the support of caring adults and older adults in their communities. These are among the best long-term investments we can make.
Individual & Community Wellbeing
Helping people of all ages achieve security, equity, and belonging. Individuals of every age and ability deserve access to supports that empower them to live well, such as the security of a decent roof overhead; nutritious food; employment; freedom from violence or abuse; and equitable opportunities for full community participation.
Economy & Jobs
Providing business loans and technical assistance to strengthen the region’s economy. Strong communities offer a diversity of equitable opportunities for both entrepreneurs and workers. Our Economy & Jobs focus aims to promote thriving Main Streets, good wages and benefits, sustainable operations, growth and expansion throughout our rural region.
