In 2007, the Northland Foundation opened its first assisted living facility in McGregor, MN. The philosophy behind this nonprofit social enterprise is to offer a friendly, high-quality living environment and personalized care to older adults in rural communities. Unlike many commercial assisted living facilities, Northland was willing to develop in small towns and welcome people receiving medical assistance as well as private-pay residents. Northland Assisted Living has since added facilities in Buhl and Hoyt Lakes.
