Northland Assisted Living
In 2007, the Northland Foundation opened its first assisted living facility in McGregor, MN. The philosophy behind this nonprofit social enterprise is to offer a friendly, high-quality living environment and personalized care to older adults in rural communities. Unlike many commercial assisted living facilities, Northland was willing to develop in small towns and welcome people receiving medical assistance as well as private-pay residents. Northland Assisted Living has since added facilities in Buhl and Hoyt Lakes.
All three locations include 20 private suites with shared living, kitchen-dining, group activity, and outdoor spaces. High staff-to-resident ratios, activities, medication management, healthy meals, and housekeeping are just some of the amenities. Meeting our mission, they also:
- Enable seniors in rural communities to age in place, near family and friends;
- Help small communities remain diverse and vibrant;
- Offer meaningful jobs with competitive wages, health insurance, retirement benefits, and ongoing training; and
- Provide quality of place and care.
Last year, Northland Assisted Living served 66 residents and employed 58 people across the three locations.
