Social Enterprise Initiative
From 2016 to 2018, the Northland Foundation partnered with nine northeastern Minnesota nonprofit organizations pursuing or expanding a social enterprise to support their work, helping people with low incomes develop career pathways and build financial assets. With $500,000 in funding from the Northwest Area Foundation and an additional $200,000 from the Northland Foundation, the nonprofits received training, peer learning, technical assistance, and grants. The two-year Initiative concluded in April 2018.
