Nonprofit Support Resources
Introducing the Nonprofit Support Resources, a Northland Foundation pilot program designed to help nonprofits build their core strength.
Nonprofits face unique challenges, calling upon their staff and board members to meet those challenges with skill, specialized knowledge, creativity, heart, and resilience. Our region’s human and economic well-being relies heavily on the health of our nonprofit sector. But who supports the supporters?
The Northland Foundation is piloting a number of supportive resources to help northeastern Minnesota nonprofit organizations build their core strength!
Leadership Development, Training, and Technical Assistance/Consulting
Starting in spring 2026, we are tapping into the expertise of Propel Nonprofits and Brico Works to provide northeastern Minnesota nonprofits with (1) Leadership Coaching and Peer Learning Cohorts (2) Individualized Technical Assistance, (3) a Financial Resiliency Cohort, and (4) In-person Trainings on the basics of nonprofit finance and board governance.
The 12-18 month initiative is fully funded by the Northland Foundation. All components are offered at no charge to participants.
Although each activity varies in expectations for participation, all of them require a time commitment. Please make note of eligibility, time frames, and expectations before applying.
Leadership Coaching & Peer Learning Cohorts
Apply for the 1st cohort through Friday, April 10, 2026.

This virtual cohort model allows emerging leaders from across northeastern Minnesota to participate without traveling.

This organizational team of 3-5 will have planning and debriefing meetings with Propel, as well as inform the rest of their organization of progress and updates.
- Exact time commitments and suggestions of specific participants will be determined before commencing a project. However, selected organizations should commit to meeting with Propel at least 2-to-3 times during the project and doing homework between meetings.
- Depending on the type of project, work may span the period of several months. Work may or may not be able to begin right away, based on the capacity of consultants and/or desired time frame of selected organizations.
